Beat your winter blues with the Kuumba: Black Arts & Film Festival, a full-day celebration of Black creativity, storytelling, and community, produced by the Hamilton Hill Arts Center at Proctors Theatre on Presidents Day, February 16. The festival invites families and arts-lovers to experience a vibrant mix of film screenings, visual art, live performance, and cultural connection. Start the day with family-friendly programming, including children’s movies at 11:00 AM and story time with civil rights hero Miki Conn, then explore independent films, exhibits, vendors, crafts, and food throughout the day.
highlights include a Feature film by Create A Space Now, a live performance by The Barnhill Movement Collective, and a Poetry Showcase hosted by Schenectady Poet Laureate Adonis Richards. Other highpoints in the lineup include Love Jones, Love Beats Ryme, and a live performance by Doc Horton & The Jay Street Band, delivering Motown and funk energy to close the evening.
Festival Theme: Love, Poetry & Revolution. Details at hamiltonhillartscenter.org.
