The Men Chronicles is an extraordinary piece which was conceived by Peyton J. Harrison after doing her own personal research including interviews from several African American men on what their definition of manhood entails. Men openly shared their personal journeys, allowing her to capture relationships through the eyes of men for the first time: the good, the bad and the ugly.
This production is a twenty-first century examination into the lives of 7 African American men, who are struggling to find their societal-defined identities versus self-defined identities as fathers, husbands, brothers and friends.
The Men Chronicles, Too picks up where the last play ended, centering on the women in the lives of these men and how they are impacted by the attitudes, behaviors and communication within their relationships. The women are given a voice and allowed to share individual experiences of how these men
show up in their lives. Hence, they “too” are defining their roles as African-American women and their invisibility in society.
Join us as they express their views on being deemed delicate, in need of nurturing, worthy of love, being able to express all their real emotions and frailties all while still being seen as whole.
